Gov. Braun delivers better jobs, higher wages as adult education learners graduate across Indiana

Under Governor Mike Braun, Indiana continues to lead the nation in Adult Education outcomes, providing a direct pathway for Hoosiers to earn high school equivalency diplomas, gain workforce credentials and move into better jobs with higher wages.

Across Indiana, Adult Education graduation ceremonies in recent weeks mark more than the completion of a class. They represent a turning point, opening doors to employment, advancement and greater economic independence. Under Gov. Braun, Indiana is strengthening these pathways so more Hoosiers can turn a diploma or credential into a paycheck, a promotion and a stronger future for their families.

“Adult Education gives Hoosiers the ability to change the direction of their lives,” said Gov. Braun. “These graduates are building better lives for themselves and their families while helping build the workforce that will keep our state growing.”

Under Gov. Braun’s leadership, Adult Education programs connect with workforce training, credential attainment and employer demand. They help adults strengthen basic skills, prepare for in-demand jobs, continue into additional training or advance in their current employment.

Adult Education programs deliver results, with average wage increases of about $5,000 within one year of program completion and even stronger earnings growth for those who earn a high school equivalency diploma, according to state analysis. Graduates also see improved job stability and higher employment rates, reinforcing the connection between credentials and stronger workforce outcomes.

These graduates are taking the next step toward better jobs, higher wages and greater opportunities. By expanding access to Adult Education, Gov. Braun is helping more Hoosiers complete that next step and move into careers that support families, strengthen communities and build the skilled workforce Indiana needs to grow.
