Friday Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced a new license plate design for veterans and disabled veterans of the United States Space Force.
The Space Force license plates will be available to Indiana residents who are veterans of the United States Space Force.
“We’re proud to include the United States Space Force among the distinctive license plates available to Hoosier veterans,” said Governor Mike Braun. “These individuals fulfill a critical mission for our state and nation, and I am honored to be able to recognize their service with this license plate.”
“I encourage all eligible veterans to take advantage of this new opportunity to display their service with pride,” said Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs Director Jake Adams. “By obtaining the Space Force license plate, you help highlight the important role this branch plays in our nation’s defense and ensure your contributions are seen and appreciated across our communities.”
The U.S. Space Force was established in 2019 as the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces as part of the National Defense Authorization Act. While Space Force may not currently have a robust presence in the state, Department of Defense demographic reports note active-duty members of Space Force stationed in Indiana.
The Space Force license plate will join a variety of distinctive license plates available for military personnel, Hoosier veterans, and civilians to show their support for the armed forces.
“Each one of our veterans’ license plates has an individual’s story connected to it. The plates allow all of us to honor the service members whose commitments and contributions have helped shape our nation and the Hoosier State,” said Commissioner Kevin Garvey.
