The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) has honored Good Samaritan CEO Rob McLin with the 2025 Distinguished Service Award, recognizing his exceptional leadership, vision, and decades of service to health care in Indiana.
The Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to a hospital chief executive officer who has made outstanding contributions to their organization, patients, community, and the health care profession. McLin was recognized during IHA’s Annual Meeting for his 34 years of service at Good Samaritan, including 15 years as CEO.
“Rob’s leadership has left an indelible mark not only within our organization, but across the entire state,” said Adam Thacker, Good Samaritan President and Chief Administrative Officer. “He has led with unwavering integrity, compassion, and humility—always putting the patient at the forefront of every decision. This award is a fitting exclamation point on a remarkable career of service and commitment to health care across Indiana.”
During his tenure, McLin has guided Good Samaritan through transformative milestones, including:
- The opening of the Gibault Memorial Tower, a state-of-the-art inpatient facility that redefined hospital care in the region.
- The establishment of the Indiana University Graduate Medical Education Consortium, bringing physician training opportunities to southern Indiana.
- The implementation of the Epic electronic medical record system, enhancing coordination and quality of care.
- The creation of Good Samaritan’s new EMS program, ensuring timely and coordinated emergency response across the 10-county region the hospital serves.
Beyond Good Samaritan, McLin’s influence has extended statewide. As a past IHA Board Chair and committee leader, he has been a steadfast advocate for rural hospitals, shaping policy and championing collaboration during one of the most challenging eras for health care systems.
Susan Brocksmith, Dean of the College of Business and Public Service at Vincennes University and Vice Chairperson of the Good Samaritan Board of Governors, also praised McLin’s recognition.
“It is with great appreciation that I congratulate Rob McLin on receiving the Indiana Hospital Association 2025 Distinguished Service Award,” said Brocksmith. “This prestigious honor is well deserved in recognition of his tireless efforts and deep commitment to improving the health care system in Indiana. Thank you, Rob, for your impactful leadership, your unwavering dedication, and your enduring service to the Indiana Hospital Association and to Good Samaritan Hospital.”
In his acceptance remarks, McLin expressed humility and gratitude:
“I’m really humbled to even be up on this stage,” McLin said. “I’ve grown as a leader through my time with the Hospital Association and have been blessed to lead a team at Good Samaritan that is second to none. After 34 years, I get to walk away from the hospital I was born in—and it doesn’t get any better than that.”
McLin will retire from his role as CEO in January of 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy of integrity, innovation, and community-centered care. Adam Thacker will assume the role of President and CEO beginning January 2026.
