A 44-year-old Plymouth man was arrested on Wednesday, January 22nd after he tried to avoid a traffic stop by driving into his driveway and entering his home.
At approximately 7:20 pm, Officer Lovely with the Plymouth Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a silver GMC truck near Kingston Road and Highland Court. The vehicle continued and pulled into the driveway at 140 N. Kingston Road.
Officer Lovely exited his patrol vehicle, and the driver, Manuel Garcia-Lopez, exited his truck and started walking toward the house. The officer ordered Garcia-Lopez to stop and stay with his truck. He told the officer no and continued toward the house.
The officer grabbed Garcia-Lopez, who had opened the house door, and they both went forward into the house and down onto a set of stairs. Garcia-Lopez continued to resist and refused to comply with orders. He was taken into custody once additional units arrived.
Manuel Garcia-Lopez was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged for operating without ever having obtained a driver’s license as a class C misdemeanor, and resisting law enforcement as a class A misdemeanor.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
