The Plymouth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Symphony's Restaurant, 1410 North Michigan Street, on Thursday afternoon after a caller reported smoke in the lobby of the restaurant.
The call came into the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center at 12:48 p.m. As firefighters arrived on the scene, they could see smoke coming from the building, prompting Plymouth Fire to call for a full response and a ladder truck from the Bremen Fire Department.
Fire Chief Steve Holm told GIANT fm WTCA that the fire started near the ground on the outside of the building. The fire climbed up a wooden structure covered by metal and entered the eaves of the restaurant.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to the attic space or inside the structure, preventing more extensive damage.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
