Marshall County Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that happened Thursday morning on Michigan and 6A Road north of Plymouth.
The Marshall County Central Dispatch received a report of an injury collision between a motorcycle and an SUV at 10:13.
Emergency responders arrived and found the driver of the 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, 64-year-old Steven Parker of LaPorte, seriously injured because of the collision. The police report states that Mr. Parker was not wearing a helmet and sustained a head injury. He was treated at the scene but died at the scene from his injuries.
The other driver involved; 27-year-old Maria J. Hernandez-Banegas of Bremen was not injured. She was transported from the scene for a certified chemical test, as standard procedure in a serious collision. Neither alcohol nor illegal drugs are believed to have been a factor at this time.
The incident is still a pending investigation, and a report for the incident will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor for review as soon as the investigation is complete.
This fatal crash is still under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. County police were assisted at the scene by Plymouth Police, Fire and EMS, LaPaz Fire & EMS, the Marshall County Highway Dept., and Reicherts Towing.
