The family of Jacob James was presented with a special plaque during the Mid-Hoosier Conference track and field meet at Waldron High School on May 15.
It was a thoughtful gesture from the Mohawks as they honored one of their own.
James, a standout distance runner at Waldron, passed away in the fall of 2019 before his final season of track and field. The plaque recognized his commitment to both programs -- cross country and track and field.
Waldron track and field coaches Mike Redelman and D.J. Higdon presented the plaque to the family of James prior to the conference meet (main photo).

“Jacob was honored by Waldron High School, and we are grateful that he was recognized with a special presentation at MHC for his four years of varsity letters in both cross country and track and field (2016-20),” said James’ mother, Shelley Adams.

The memory of James is still very alive as the Jacob James 5th Anniversary 5K Cross Country Race and 1-Mile Walk is set for June 14 at the Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville.
