The Family Health Center offices received a very generous donation of training equipment and supplies from Southwest Indiana AHEC (Area Health Education Centers).
Delivered were eight adult and four baby CPR manikins along with the necessary supplies to train FHC staff in all our offices. Also donated were three Automated External Defibrillator (AED) trainers that allow employees to use the device as they would in a crisis but without the electric shock. The training device vocalizes step-by-step instructions allowing the user to enhance their confidence utilizing the device during a life-threatening crisis.
AHEC is a statewide network engaging with rural and underserved communities to partner on clinical training, community-based experiences, and professional development opportunities.
As the Clinical Lead Nurse, Kimberly Staggs is charged with providing orientation, education, and competencies for the FHC staff.
“The donation of this equipment is an incredible gift to the Family Health Center,” said Stubbs. “The Family Health Center wants to ensure our staff is adequately trained and prepared for any situation they may encounter while providing care for our patients and community. Through our partnership with AHED, and their incredible generosity, we have the ability to enhance our training programs and provide quality education for all employees which will allow us to live up to our mission as an organization.”
The Southwest Indiana AHEC was established in 2008 and serves ten counties including Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick, and is hosted on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana. It is part of a statewide network of centers working to improve health by recruiting, educating and retaining health care professionals in communities across Indiana.
