The National Weather Service (MWS) has indicated that gusty southwest winds in excess of 30 mph in combination with low relative humidity levels and dry outdoor foliage have led to an enhanced fire risk for the entire GIANT-FM listening area Friday.
Burning outdoors is not advised and is being discouraged by local and area fire safety officials.
Many fire departments have been extremely busy with brush and trash fires getting out of control over the last few days.
There is relief expected with rain in the forecast late Friday into Saturday and also on Sunday.
