Continuing dry conditions across the region is causing concern among fire officials. The forecast is calling for dry, breezy conditions throughout the remainder of the week with no appreciable rain and relative humidity levels in the 25 to 35% range. These types of conditions are ideal for the creation of flash fires. Multiple firefighting agencies were called out Monday evening to battle a large field fire in Gibson County Indiana. about 15 to 20 acres of land caught fire between Somerville and Oakland City. A cause is not known. Due to the dry conditions, four southwestern Indiana counties have implemented outdoor burn bans-Gibson, Warrick, Vanderburgh and Spencer. No burn bans issued yet in southeastern Illinois.
