The Board of Public Works and Safety issued an order to appear Tuesday morning for Jonathan Oliver, the owner of the building at 63 E. Washington St., after damage was sustained to the property during Saturday’s heavy rainfall.
Photos posted from Redline Studio Custom Tattoo, who operates at 63 E. Washington St., show water damage throughout the facility as well as ceiling damage.
Rob Miller with the City of Shelbyville’s Building Department appeared before the Board of Works Tuesday morning asking for the order to appear by the building owner to get answers on how quickly the property will be fixed.
“There are a couple of tenants there now that cannot work out of that space,” said Miller. “We need to figure out in fairly short order what we’re going to be doing down there.”

The power is currently shut off to the building, according to Miller. He believes there is no danger of a second floor collapse within the building at this time.
Jack Morris, who owns and operates Redline, posted he has been at the location for 16 years and the water damage cost him several pieces of artwork that cannot be replaced.
On Monday, the Shelby County Emergency Management Agency posted a link at its Facebook page (Shelby County Emergency Management Agency – Indiana) to assist the organization with following flood damage.
