The Marshall County Sheriff's Department and Marshall County Coroner’s Office continue investigating after a deceased male was discovered in the Yellow River in the area of U.S. 31, north of U.S. 30, on Sunday afternoon.
The body was found at approximately 2:45 p.m. on June 28th by individuals floating on the river, who then contacted authorities. The identity of the deceased has not been officially confirmed, though investigators believe they have identified the individual and are awaiting formal confirmation.
DNA testing through the Marshall County Coroner's Office will be used to make a positive identification. The Coroner’s Office was contacted by a family who believes the body is that of a family member.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 30th.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department stated that it does not believe there are any public safety concerns related to the incident. The investigation remains active and involves multiple agencies.
