The company seeking to build a hybrid truck stop on the site of the Red Rock Inn in Plymouth has pulled its rezoning application, Mayor Robert Listenberger confirmed during the May 11th City Council meeting.
The developer had been seeking to rezone the property on North Michigan Street from Business Park to Commercial — a change that would have paved the way for a truck fueling business on the site. However, the Plymouth Plan Commission had already issued an unfavorable recommendation to the City Council on the rezoning request, though the final decision on any zoning change rests with the City Council.
The rezoning request had been listed on the agenda for the May 11th meeting as a certified proposal to amend Plymouth's official zoning map. Before the council could act, Mayor Listenberger informed members that the city had been contacted by the developer on May 11th with word that they were withdrawing their application entirely.
With the rezoning request now off the table, attention turns back to the existing order of demolition the city has in place against the owners of the Red Rock Inn property. That demolition remains scheduled for early summer.
