Two men were arrested Friday evening by Deputy Truty with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department for OWI.
At approximately 5:30 pm, the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center broadcast a report of a possible impaired or unsafe driver traveling westbound on U.S. 30 from Hawthorn Road. The report was of a blue Chevrolet pickup truck all over the roadway. Officer Truty located the vehicle on U.S. 31 near 3A Road and initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation.
During the investigation, the driver, Thomas C Hall, 66, of Fort Wayne, was exhibiting signs of alcohol intoxication. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for operating a vehicle while intoxicated at .15% or more, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia, and held on a $1,500 cash bond for about 5 hours before posting bond.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, County Dispatch reported a possible impaired driver traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 from the Starke County line. The report was about a black Ford F150 pickup truck all over the roadway. Deputy Truty located the suspect vehicle and performed a traffic stop for a moving violation.
During the investigation, the driver, Danial C Craig, 554, of Silver Lake, was exhibiting signs of alcohol intoxication. He was transported to the County Jail and booked in for operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15% or more, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, endangering, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance L6. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond for 4 hours before posting bond and being released.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
