Jamee Decio, the Democratic candidate running for Indiana's Second Congressional District, will host a Town Hall meeting in Plymouth this Friday, August 14th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Marshall County Council for Aging, located at 1305 West Harrison Street.
Decio, who will face incumbent Republican Congressman Rudy Yakym in November's general election, is making open dialogue with voters a cornerstone of her campaign. She criticized the incumbent's approach to public engagement, saying that showing up face-to-face to answer questions from every voter is the minimum requirement of the job.
"While Rudy Yakym dodges public scrutiny and refuses to hold open town halls, I believe showing up face-to-face to answer questions from every voter is the minimum requirement of the job," Decio said.
An Elkhart native, Decio describes herself as a trailblazer, child advocate, justice seeker, and proud union member. She says she stands ready to fight for all of Indiana's Second District voters and to put power back in the hands of "We, the people," as the Founding Fathers wrote.
On the issues, Decio believes the federal government must refocus on the basic needs of all Americans rather than seeking to control Democratic-led cities. She condemns using ICE to deport undocumented immigrants who hold jobs and pay taxes, and she objects to spending $1.71 billion on deportations at a time when millions of Americans are losing Medicaid and struggling with the rising costs of food, fuel, and housing.
As a member of Congress, Decio says she would safeguard democracy and cooperate with fellow lawmakers to restore unity and hope for everyone.
Decio is inviting the public to come meet her, ask direct questions, share what matters to their families, and help restore real accountability to Indiana's 2nd District.
