Decatur County Memorial Hospital has announced the launch of its new same-day appointment service.
Decatur County Memorial Hospital has announced the launch of its new same-day appointment service, providing same-day care for illnesses and injuries.
This initiative enhances accessibility and convenience for patients, ensuring they receive timely medical attention without the need for long-distance travel or extended wait times. In rural areas where healthcare resources may be limited, DCMH stated in a press release that it remains dedicated to increasing access to specialty services and care, which can help prevent conditions from worsening.
Since October 2023, DCMH has brought in nine new Family Medicine primary care providers, two new Nurse Practitioners in the Immediate Care Clinic, and many specialty service providers, and now offers same-day appointments to ensure that patients can better manage chronic conditions, receive prompt medication adjustments, and access preventive services. This proactive approach to healthcare not only improves individual health outcomes but also enhances the overall health and resilience of the community.
Amy Wickens, Executive Director of Practice Operations and Support Services, said, “An appointment with any DCMH provider allows a patient to remain under the DCMH umbrella. Your primary care provider remains informed and involved in your care plan. Our teams collaborate across Family Medicine clinics, our Immediate Care Clinic, and throughout our specialty service providers. Our goal is to make sure you receive quality coordination of care during every visit.”
Same-day appointments play a vital role in maintaining continuity of care; DCMH’s collaborative approach to managing ongoing medical needs effectively focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Rex McKinney, CEO/President of DCMH, said, “We are committed to furthering trust between patients and their healthcare providers by focusing on patient safety, patient experience, and giving consistent, coordinated care across the patient’s healthcare journey.”
