The Town of Culver is looking for a part-time building commissioner as well as a school crossing guard.
The Building Commissioner is required to be knowledgeable in the field of Culver building codes, including their interpretation and enforcement.
Duties include but are not limited to: Reviewing all online applications for improvement location permits and approving or disapproving such applications. Issue improvement and erosion control location permits, and maintain all records in the online permit management system. The Building Commission will also conduct timely inspections of land uses and structures to determine compliance. They must investigate zoning violation complaints and determine if a violation has occurred.

Duties of the crossing guard include: Reporting as directed to the assigned area, taking appropriate action, such as directing traffic, assisting individuals in leaving or arriving in the area, and requesting appropriate assistance if needed. The crossing guard directs the movement of vehicles in the assigned area to ensure it is clear for pedestrian traffic and manages vehicular and pedestrian traffic when congestion occurs. The school crossing guard will maintain the provided equipment, monitor the radio and other communication devices to receive assigned duties, and maintain awareness of activities in designated areas or by other officers.
