Marshall County Police, Polk Township Fire, and Walkerton EMS were dispatched to Plymouth-LaPorte Trail and 5th Road for the report of an accident with unknown injuries on Monday, March 10th, at 9:45 p.m.
Deputy Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department located the single-vehicle accident involving a tan 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The driver was identified as 17-year-old Leland Allison of Plymouth.
The police investigation states that the Hyundai was traveling southbound on Plymouth LaPorte Trail and lost control at the intersection of 5th Road. The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree with the passenger side of the vehicle.
Leland Allison suffered many lacerations and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth.
Deputy Wozniak’s report states that speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Marshall County Police were assisted at the scene by Walkerton EMS, Polk Township Fire, and Lyon's Towing.
