Deputy Halfke with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department investigated a two-vehicle accident on Friday, November 8th at 9:43 in the morning on U.S. 31 near 12th Road.
The police report states that 43-year-old Maria Mendez was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius southbound on 31 in the driving lane. She looked down and before she looked back up, she struck the rear of the vehicle in front of her.
Rodger Walker 60 was driving the vehicle in front of Mendez. He told Officer Halfke he was southbound on U.S. 31 in the driving lane. He turned on his right turn signal to head west on 12th Road and started to merge onto the shoulder about 100 to 200 yards before the intersection when his 2003 Ford F150 was struck in the rear by Mendez.
Plymouth Fire and EMS assisted the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at the scene of the crash.
