County police arrested two individuals from South Bend on May 6th following a late-night traffic stop on U.S. 31.
Tuesday, at approximately 11:50 PM, Marshall County Officer Wozniak initiated a traffic stop on a blue 2006 Chevrolet Malibu on U.S. 31 at 9A Road.
During the investigation, the driver, Caleb L. Smith, 31, was found to be driving with a suspended prior status. Two adult females and a juvenile were also in the vehicle.

The officer completed a probable cause search of the vehicle, finding many baggies and items of marijuana.
A rear female passenger, 24-year-old Quadesjah L. Mack, gave officers a false name and was found to have an active warrant out of Elkhart County. She was taken into custody and was transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Caleb Smith was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for possession of marijuana and driving while suspended with a prior and a suspension with 10 years.
The registered owner of the vehicle, Kimberly A. Rustman, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released from the scene with the juvenile.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
