A handgun suspected of being unlawfully possessed by a South Bend woman was located during a county police traffic stop on May 19th.
On Monday, at about 2:00 PM, a deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle on U.S. 31 and 11th Road. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Promize Johnson. She had a driver’s license status of suspended with a prior conviction.
During the traffic stop, a handgun suspected of being unlawfully possessed was located in the vehicle.
Promize Johnson was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for unlawful carrying of a handgun as a class A misdemeanor and driving while suspended with a prior conviction as a class A misdemeanor. She was held for about 4 hours on a $500 cash bond.
