On Monday, Executive Director Greg Hildebrand gave the County Council members a quarterly update on the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC).
One area the MCEDC is focusing on this year is the availability of property for development. Hildebrand stated that he is currently collaborating with the Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation (PIDCO), Wabash Valley Power Alliance, Marshall County REMC, and the City of Plymouth to provide infrastructure for development in regions that are already zoned for industrial growth. An exciting announcement regarding an opportunity will be made in the next quarter.
Hildebrand discussed the Dr. Bardwell Aquatic Center with the County Council. Recently, in the local news, Hildebrand said, “While the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation was a part of the development at the aquatic center, no funds from MCEDC were used to raise funds for its operation or construction. He said, “I want to alleviate any fears that money you guys have donated to us or invested in us was used for that facility.” Hildebrand said their connection with the pool is a subsidiary created, and the MCEDC is the pass-through to transfer lease payments by wire annually.
Hildebrand has commented that the aquatic center is a valuable asset for the greater community. He said the desire is for it to remain open as a vital resource for everyone.
