The agenda for Thursday’s Marshall County Council meeting is short with only a few items including an update for members on the US 30 West ProPEL study.
Vicki Brown from Dustin’s Place is one of the few places in the state offering children grief support. Brown will give members an overview of the programming provided to families in our county and many counties in the northern part of the state. Earlier this year, she told the County Commissioners they had been offered space in the LifePlex but would need assistance in creating a proper facility for providing grief support for children and their families.
Dustin’s Place provides free peer grief support to children ages 4 through 18. Their groups meet every other Monday evening at 11802 Lincoln Highway east of Plymouth.
Also on the agenda are requests for additional appropriations. In the General Fund Voter Registration needs $600 for overtime wages and the Building Dept. needs $300 for vehicle maintenance supplies. $1 million is being sought for the Medical Benefits Self Insurance and the Randolph Street Bridge Project is seeking $30,080. Other additional requests will appropriate $ 130,294 for seven Owner-Occupied Housing Projects and the Council is expected to approve approving additional appropriations of $512,778.74 of American Rescue Plan funds for new voting machines, aid to non-profits, and transfers to other units of government.
Thirty-four transfers are up for consideration with the smallest being $40.76 for the Pre-trial Grant and the largest of $85,000 for the county Medical Benefits Self Insurance.
The County Council will consider a resolution to transfer funds to the Employee Benefits Rainy Day Fund and ordinances amending the 2024 and 2025 Salary Ordinance.
The council’s meeting is held in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building. It is streamed live on the county’s YouTube channel.
