At the Thursday, January 9th County Council meeting, a discussion was held about revising the date and time of the 2025 Council meeting schedule approved late in 2024.
County Auditor Angie Birchmeier told members changing their meeting date to the second Monday rather than the second Thursday evening would help the Auditor’s Office. She said moving the meetings to Thursday nights has created a hardship for her office with Council and Commissioner meetings too close together and making it a struggle to keep up with everything.
Councilwoman Deb Johnson made the motion, and Nicole Cox seconded it to change their meetings to the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m., the council unanimously approved it.
Council’s attorney Marcel Lebbin is already committed to the Town of Walkerton on Monday evenings and wouldn’t be able to attend the council’s new meeting dates and times.
The county council unanimously approved a motion to rescind the approval to change their meeting time to 6 p.m. and with additional discussion approved their new meeting date and time to the second Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building beginning on February 11th.
Members also reorganized, electing Tim Harman as president of the Council, and Nicole Cox as vice-president.
