County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters gave the commissioners an update on a couple of bridge projects during their meeting last week, and details on Bridge Inspections.
On March 27, field check meetings were completed for the bridge project on 12th Road east of Olive Trail and the 7th Road bridge. Those attending the meetings included United Consulting, INDOT, REMC, Brightspeed, NIPSCO, and the Marshall County Highway Department. No major issues seemed to be present for the projects.
The bid letting for the 12th Road bridge project is set for January 14, and on Feb. 12 for the 7th Road bridge project.
In other business, the highway superintendent said USI Consulting submitted the Phase II Bridge Inspection Report for 2022 to 2025 for review and approval by the county.
The County Highway Department has received Requests for Proposal for the 2026 to 2029 Bridge Inspections from USI Consultants, DLZ, United Consulting, Collins Engineers, and letters of understanding from Lochmueller Group and RQAW.
The Highway Superintendent told the commissioners he will be sharing the consultant ranking sheets with them for completion as the process for selecting the company to do the next round of bridge inspections.
Superintendent Peters told the commissioners the IDNR Permit for the Mill Pond Dam was received by DLZ and the county for the work requested. They also reviewed the blackout dates for construction.
