Last Friday, Indiana Governor Mike Braun declared a State of Disaster for eighteen counties, including Marshall County, following the tornadoes, flooding, and storms that struck the state between March 30 and April 2.
The governor’s declaration is effective for 30 days and allows the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to begin providing financial assistance to impacted communities with eligible expenses under the State Disaster Relief Fund program.
Because of the Governor’s declaration on Monday, April 14th, the Marshall County Commissioners extended the county’s disaster declaration for another seven days. The Disaster Emergency Declaration will be in effect until April 21.
Declaring a state of emergency allows the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to offer financial assistance through the State Disaster Relief Fund to cover expenses caused by storm damage.
