Communities in Senate District 23 will receive nearly $10 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Spencer Deery (R-West Lafayette).
The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.
In Senate District 23, the following communities received grants:
Clinton received $901,203.75;
Covington received $197,139;
Fountain County received $1,373,450.62;
Kingman received $189,457.50;
Montgomery County received $1.5 million;
New Market received $290,187.75;
Otterbein received $100,050;
Parke County received $1.5 million;
Shadeland received $424,875;
Universal received $56,342.85;
Vermillion County received $1.5 million;
Warren County received $908,819.99;
West Lafayette received $581,082.70;
West Lebanon received $74,809.29; and
Williamsport received $342,861.75.
"As the Crossroads of America, Hoosiers expect high-quality roads and bridges across the state," Deery said. "The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program is one of the tools available to ensure roadways are well maintained for Hoosiers and visitors to the state. I am grateful to have excellent local partners working to ensure our state's transportation networks are well maintained for motorists."
Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
