The Marshall County Commissioners tabled a request to work in the county’s right-of-way from Brightspeed.
Three requests from Brightspeed were presented during the Commissioner’s meeting on Monday to install aerial fiber-optic cable at Hawthorn and 5C Road, a bore on Hawthorn from 5th Road, and another aerial fiber-optic cable installation on Hawthorn Road to Plymouth Goshen Trail.
Commissioner Adam Faulstich has personally been experiencing internet issues with Brightspeed for several months without any help or response from the company. He has also been contacted by three or four constituents who are experiencing issues with the internet provider. Commissioner Jesse Bohannon was also contacted by a constituent who isn’t happy with Brightspeed's service.
Two weeks ago at the commissioner’s meeting, Faulstich wanted to table their requests but agreed to try using a contact number the Highway Superintendent has with the company to seek action.
On Monday, Commissioner Faulstich said he’d called and left a message but hadn’t heard anything. His suggestion was to postpone any action on Brightspeed's request to work in the county’s right-of-way until they respond.
Commissioner Jesse Bohannon made the motion to table Brightspeed's request, and it was seconded by Commissioner Faulstich and was unanimously approved by the commissioners.
