The six food pantries in Marshall County are getting a holiday gift from the county. On Monday the commissioners approved the six sub-recipient agreements with the Marshall County Neighborhood Center and Bread of Life Community Food Pantry in Plymouth, the Argos United Methodist Church Shepherd’s Food Pantry in Argos, Bourbon Helping Hands Food Pantry, Culver Community Food Pantry, and Grace Food Pantry in Bremen.
The sub-recipient agreements are for the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Funds and require the pantries to purchase items for distribution and submit a receipt to the County Auditor for reimbursement through next year. The Auditor said if a pantry is purchasing a freezer or signage those vendors will be paid directly by the county using the pantry’s allotted funds.
The county commissioners have agreed to allow each pantry to spend up to $12,500 by the end of 2025. The total ARP Funds being given to the six pantries is $75,000.
The various directors of the pantries will have to meet with County Auditor Angie Birchmier to sign the sub-recipient agreement before the funds are available to them. The auditor will maintain records to verify the funds are used properly and in total by the end of 2025.
