During their meeting Monday, the Marshall County Commissioners took official action to purchase the Bowen Building on Illinois Street in Plymouth.
County Attorney Sean Surrisi gave an update on the process. He said the final terms of the documents for the purchase of the building have been negotiated and are ready for the commissioner’s approval. He said the commissioners need to authorize Commission President Stan Klotz to sign the purchasing documents on behalf of the county.
Sandy Dunfee, Administrator of the County Health Department, said the Health Board, after a lengthy discussion, unanimously voted last week to support and help finance the purchase of the building. She said appropriations have already been made for the payment toward the purchase later this month.
Surrisi said, “After your approval today, I can meet with Stan and get the documents signed and off to Bowen’s attorney and then work with McKesson Title on the closing here in town hopefully sometime later in the month after the Council’s meeting.”
The basic terms of the purchase agreement include payment of $250,000 by the Marshall County Health Department with Health First Indiana Funds at the time of closing. The county will then be responsible for a payment of $100,000 due one year from the closing date and the final payment of $100,000 due two years from the closing date. The total purchase price is $450,000.
Marshall County Commissioner Jesse Bohannon motioned to approve having Commissioner Stan Klotz sign the purchase agreement for the Bowen Building pending the approval of the County Council’s funding and his motion was unanimously approved.
