Progress continues on the emergency replacement of the Randolph Street Bridge in Centennial Park.
During the Marshall County Commissioners meeting on Monday, Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said LaPorte Construction has removed the guard railing from bridge #232 and placed temporary railings for safety. They have also removed all the asphalt from the existing beams on the deck in preparation for beam removal.
LaPorte Construction has installed river buoys and portage signs along the river’s edge, and State Barricade has set up the trail's pedestrian detour route to divert people from the project for safety.
A notice asking walkers, bikers, and kayakers to avoid the area due to the bridge replacement project has been posted on the City of Plymouth's Facebook page.
It says, “If you are kayaking or canoeing in the area, you cannot go under the bridge. You must leave the water and go around the construction area.”
The city’s warning states, “Areas of the Greenways Trail are blocked off. You will need to leave the trail, go around the construction area, and then get back on the trail.
