The County Commissioners unanimously approved a request from West Township Trustee Terry Borggren for 35 tons of millings.
Borggren explained his request, saying West Township owned the parcel of ground at State Road 17 and Sycamore Road, where the Firemen’s Memorial is, and another parcel to the north, where the flowing well is. Recently, they purchased the parcel between the two lots, and now have about 500 feet of frontage along Sycamore Road.
Marshall County Soil and Water assisted the township with a landscape design to improve the site's appearance. Borggren said a polyvinyl fence will be installed this week, and a parking area is proposed south of the flowing well. The township is seeking 35 tons of millings for the parking lot area. The trustee said a contractor would prep the area, haul the millings from the county garage to the site, and spread them in the parking area.
Commissioner Klotz clarified with the County Attorney that it was permitted to assist with the request since it is a government entity within the county. Attorney Clevenger assured him it was allowable.
