It is more good news for the Town of Cloverdale and the Town Board when it comes to receiving a grant.
Town officials recently received a letter from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) stating the town had received an recycling grant in the amount of $36,320 from the state. The grant supports efforts to improve municipal solid waste reduction and recycling in Indiana.
Cloverdale Town Board President Brandon Tancak said the town receiving the grant is "huge."
"It brings a high level of satisfaction knowing our hard work and dedication continues to pay off. It is huge for Cloverdale," he said.
Tancak said the grant will be used to help town officials decide on a new area for the relocation of the town's recycling bin.
"Currently, the bin sits in the town hall parking lot and over the years it has caused significant damage to the parking lot due to the trucks that swap the bin out on a weekly basis," Tancak told The Putnam County Post.
Recycling has been a major talking point for the town board for a little over a year and Tancak admits the town was waiting on the right grant or opportunity to help cover the cost of the project.
"The recycling bin is a valuable resource for the community and they take full advantage of doing their part by filling the recycling bin up weekly. It's the damage the delivery trucks and bin itself has caused to the parking lot that makes this project important," Tancak said.
