A Newport, Arkansas man and a Plymouth woman were arrested Monday evening in the parking lot of the gas station at Walmart.
At 9:50 Monday, Corporal Schieber with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with false and fictitious plates.
The driver was identified as 42-year-old John Matlock of Newport, Arkansas, and the passenger was 42-year-old Brandy Varga, of Plymouth.
John Matlock was found to have a suspended and expired driver’s license out of Arkansas while Varga was determined to have outstanding felony warrants for her arrest in Elkhart County.

Matlock was taken into custody for driving while suspended and operating without financial responsibility with a prior charge.
Varga was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for the outstanding arrest warrants.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
