The Benjamin Fisher Memorial Foundation applied for an exemption from licensing requirements from the city’s ordinance on peddlers, solicitors and transient merchants.
During the Common Council meeting March 11th Jo Fisher told the city council the foundation plans to be at the intersection of Michigan and Jefferson Streets in April to bring awareness to Work Zone Awareness Week in Indiana. They will be handing out key chains and collecting donations for the foundation.
Fisher requested permission to be at the intersection on Friday, April 12 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 13th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the rain dates to be April 19th and 20th.
Fisher said those working in the streets will be wearing high-vis class 3 vests and shirts. They also have orange safety cones in the street to make drivers aware of the event.
Councilman Don Ecker had some concerns with working until 7 p.m. on Friday evening but approved the request with the rest of the Common Council members.
