During the last City Council meeting, Mayor Robert Listenberger presented his annual Uniform Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement.
A "uniform conflict of interest disclosure" is a standardized form used by public servants to report any potential conflicts of interest transparently they may have when making decisions related to contracts or purchases within their governmental entity, ensuring ethical conduct and public trust by openly revealing personal financial interests that could influence their choices; often mandated by state law and requiring details like the nature of the interest and the involved parties involved.
The mayor has a financial interest in Hoosier Food Service, also known as Bob’s Cafeteria, along with Listenberger & Kozel LLC, both in Plymouth. His statement says, “I am an owner of these food service businesses, which could potentially contract with the City of Plymouth. The businesses have no present contracts with the City of Plymouth.”
City Attorney Jeff Houin said he anticipated Councilman Randy Longanecker filing a Conflict Statement due to his relationship with Michiana Contracting in Plymouth.
The Common Council members unanimously accepted the statement.
The City Council approved accepting three donations for the Mayor’s Summer of Music concert series. Comcast, NIPSCO, and Jones Petrie & Rafinski each donated one thousand dollars.
