Jim Marquardt, Plymouth’s Street Superintendent, was approved to begin the process of seeking bids for the capital expenditures in his 2025 budget.
During the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Monday evening Marquardt said he budgeted a new bucket truck for the department and wants to update the 25-year-old generator at the shop and parts store.
Marquardt said it would be a lengthy process on the bucket truck.
The Street Superintendent also gave an update on the three electric vehicles the city was granted. Marquardt said the first one was received and the other two should be here by the end of the month. He said all three were built and sent out but only one has been delivered to the city.
The Plymouth Building Commissioner received the first electric vehicle, and the city is beginning the process of tracking the electric charging time and cost, miles driven, and savings on fuel.
Mayor Listenberger said he got a chance to drive the new truck and said, “It is a nice vehicle.” The mayor said tracking the usage and cost of the new electric truck will be beneficial for future purchases by the city.
