While there hasn't been any movement or signs of opening in the near future, Greencastle Mayor Lynda Dunbar admits things are still moving forward with Church's Texas Chicken setting up in Greencastle.

The banners with the logo, as well as "coming soon" signs have been long removed, but Dunbar said Monday morning, there are still plans in the works for the restaurant to replace the old KFC in Putnam Plaza.

"Church's is still coming to Greencastle," Dunbar told The Putnam County Post.

Dunbar said Chuch's Texas Chicken is waiting for its Certificate of Occupancy, as well getting staff hired.

"I expect them to open sometime soon," Dunbar said.

In addition, Little Caesars Pizza opened in October, and Dunbar said plans to bring a Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins to the former Dairy Queen building at Putnam Plaza continue to move ahead.

"I am not sure what their timeline is," Dunbar said.

The first term mayor told The Putnam County Post there are other developers who are looking at bringing business to Greencastle.

"We have other folks that are looking at Greencastle to put in some other retail, restaurants and different things in the community. That is exciting. The YMCA is such a gem to our community and it is one reason why we are seeing a lot of different folks coming to the Mayor's office and Planning Department about bringing different things to Greencastle. City Hall is very open to new businesses and different things coming to our community that citizens would like to see," Dunbar said.
