Judge William Thurston on Tuesday, July 7th granted a defense motion to move the upcoming murder trial of Megan Valentine out of Edwards County. The request was granted by the court due to extensive pretrial publicity of the case.
The 46-year-old Valentine is formally charged in the shooting death of her husband, former Edwards County Circuit Judge Michael Valentine at their home near Albion in Edwards County.
The trial will now occur in Marion, Illinois in Williamson County. No date for the proceeding has been set. Valentine's next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd in Edwards County Circuit Court. She remains incarcerated at the Wayne County Jail in Fairfield pending trial.
