A definite cause of Thursday’s fire at 14487 Lincoln Highway west of Plymouth has not yet been determined by the Plymouth Fire Department. Their investigation is continuing.
The Plymouth Fire Department was dispatched at about 4:30 to the long L-shaped structure with multiple businesses in it. As they arrived on the scene heavy black smoke and flames were shooting through the roof of the rear building.
Fire Chief Steve Holm requested mutual aid assistance from the Argos and Culver Fire Departments to battle the intense fire.
The roof collapsed on the JH Services portion of the building. It’s a mechanics shop at the rear of the L-shaped structure where employees were working at the time of the fire. Fire Chief Holm said, “All the contents of that section of the building are a loss. There were a few cars inside also.” The chief said the fire has begun to spread into the firewall between the two back businesses and firefighters had to break into the wall to be sure the fire was out.
No injuries were reported to anyone at the businesses or to the firefighters working the blaze.
574 Auto Sales and the Chavez Body Shop did not sustain any damages from the fire and were open for business on Friday.
