Cass County Pride announces new board members during annual meeting

Cass County Pride held their annual meeting at the Penman Service Center in Logansport on Sunday, Feb. 1.

The meeting hosted guest presenters from Peru Pride, American Red Cross, and MADVoters to engage attendees with partnership projects and Cass County Pride board members reflected on their organization's progress throughout 2025.

Cass County Pride is a non-profit organization created to help connect and empower LGBTQIA+ people and their allies in the Cass County area and surrounding communities. Since their start in 2023, the group has made it a mission to be more visible in the community by participating in things like local parades, vendor events, festivals and more.

As the group continues to grow, they continue to spread the word about Cass County Pride in hopes of gaining more members and volunteers to help strengthen their community.

“As a group we need to ask ourselves, how can we serve the community? How can we help? We want more your ideas. This a community led organization and we need your ideas to grow,“ Cass County Pride president Brence Walters told attendees during the meeting.

Five new Cass County Pride board members were also introduced during Sunday's meeting. Cass County Pride's new secretary Jacqueline Dulligans-Merritt said building a community that provides positive support to a marginalized group of people was her main motivation when joining the group.

As a LGBTQIA+ person herself, Dulligans-Merritt said she knows firsthand the struggles and discrimination LGBTQIA+ deal with on a day-to-day basis. Dulligans-Merritt said she hopes Cass County Pride serves as a beacon of light to remind local LGBTQIA+ that they are not alone in the community.
