Logansport's Bullshipper’s Cafe will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) this month.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on August 21. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Marsha Bullard about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
Marsha’s late husband Ron opened Bullshipper’s Cafe in 1974. The name is a play on not only their last name, but also the fact that Ron also ran a livestock auction and literally shipped bulls and cows every Friday.
“And at that time, there was just a small little counter that he would sell burgers and items like that on Friday during auction day,” Marsha says. “So then it’s grown from then to what it is now. It’s not a huge place, but that’s how it started.”
The eatery is anchored by an enormous black bib-wearing bull statue which takes up part of the parking lot. The bull was originally at the now- closed Mr. Happy Burger, and moved to Bullshipper’s in late 2023.
Bullshipper’s Cafe is open every day but Tuesday, starting at 5:30 a.m. (6 a.m. on Sundays) with a full breakfast menu served all day in a homey atmosphere. Lunches include an array of sandwiches, burgers, salads and dinners.
Marsha notes that a great deal of her success comes from the staff, some of whom have been with the restaurant for almost two decades. Her goal is unchanged from the start – to welcome customers into her restaurant and make them feel at home.
“We aim for [customers] to feel like they’re family when they come in,” she says. “We want them to feel comfortable. Our waitresses are amazing. Our staff in the back are amazing.”
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Wednesday August 21st from 9 am to noon EST. The press is invited to attend. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants‘ website.
Restaurants featured on the ABR Roadshow are selected based on their customer reviews, menu items, social media presence, and level of involvement with their community. They are found through customer nominations, internal vetting or by a restaurant applying to be featured at www.americasbestrestaurants.com.
