A Bourbon woman is facing felony charges after Marshall County Sheriff's deputies and a Bourbon Police Department officer responded to a suspicious person call in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 23rd.
At approximately 2:04 a.m., Marshall County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident in the 1600 block of 9B Road reporting a suspicious female who had entered his home without permission before fleeing on foot. Responding deputies and a Bourbon officer located the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Courtney L. Shepherd of Bourbon, shortly thereafter, walking through a field on the property.
Shepherd was suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was transported to Plymouth Hospital for a certified chemical test. She was subsequently transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was booked on two charges: residential entry, as a Level 6 Felony, and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body, as a Class C Misdemeanor. Shepherd was assigned a court date and held on a $1,500 cash bond.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted in the investigation by the Bourbon Police Department.

Charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
