A Plymouth industry specializing in flexible packaging solutions took the first step in the tax abatement process on Monday evening during the Common Council meeting.
Greg Hildebrand, Executive Director of Marshall County Economic Development Corporation, told city council members that Bomarko will purchase a $4 million piece of equipment. Currently, Bomarko has 97 employees, and purchasing the new equipment will require 4 additional employees. Hildebrand said the new positions will average $27 an hour plus benefits.
The proposed project is seeking a 7-year phase in tax abatement.
As the first step, the city council declared Oak Drive's property an economic revitalization area.
A public hearing on the tax abatement request will be held at the next city meeting on Monday, September 23rd.
