The City of Shelbyville's Holiday Parade and Mistletoe Market is Friday in downtown Shelbyville.
That means roads in and around the Public Square will be closed beginning Friday at noon in preparation for the Mistletoe Market (5-8 p.m.) and the holiday parade with Santa Claus (7 p.m.).
North Harrison St. and South Harrison St. will be closed from Franklin St. to Jackson St. and East Washington St. and West Washington St. will be closed from Pike St. to Tompkins St.
Those closures were approved Tuesday morning at City Hall by the Shelbyville Board of Works and Public Safety.
In other Board of Works business:
- The construction project on N. Riley Highway from Interstate 74 into downtown Shelbyville is shutting down for the winter months, according to Chris King of Runnebohm Construction, and will be back to four lanes this week. The project which includes the creation of two roundabouts along N. Riley Highway will continue in the spring.
- Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson thanked City of Shelbyville Engineer John Kuntz for his service. Kuntz has accepted a position with the City of Batesville.
