Plymouth Blessing in a Backpack will host a Do It Yourself (DIY) 5-K event from Nov. 1-9.
For the past 12 years, over 100 students in the Plymouth Community School Elementaries and Riverside Intermediate School have received weekend food bags containing breakfast, snacks, and lunch items. The program addresses weekend food insecurity for children.
Community donations make it possible to provide food for each child at a cost of $100 per school year, which is less than a week's worth of groceries for most families.
To raise funds for the Blessings in a Backpack program benefiting Plymouth schools, the organization is hosting this unique 5-K fundraiser. The cost to participate is $25 for students, $50 for adults, and $170 for a family of up to five.
Participants can register online at www.runsignup.com/RaceGroups/189677/Groups/1894474 and complete their walk anytime during that week. Registrants will receive a t-shirt, and all donations will support local children.
