The Bridgeport Fire Protection District (BFPD) has moved to strengthen its emergency response services to the Lawrence County community.
They have acquired new Hurst Jaws of Life rescue equipment and protective gear from Sentinel Emergency Solutions, an emergency vehicle and equipment provider based out of St. Louis, Missouri that serves the states of Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. The upgrade was made with approval of the Board of Trustees and Fire Chief Rick Leighty.
The new rescue tools and equipment will be used for vehicle extrications in serious traffic accidents and forcible entry into structures where occupants are trapped and cannot get out. It can also be used for other rescue tasks, as well.
