A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 south at 12th Road on Tuesday, July 1st, sent one driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., a 2014 Nissan passenger car driven by Robert F. Lyon, 55, of Argos, was traveling south on U.S. 31 when it struck the rear of a large car hauler trailer being pulled by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck. The pickup was driven by Harold (Irish) E. Saunders Jr., 66, of Lakeville, who was in the process of turning from U.S. 31 south onto 12th Road at the time of the collision.
Lyon's vehicle came to rest in the middle of U.S. 31, while Saunders' truck and trailer left the roadway and came to rest in the Marshall County REMC parking lot at the southwest corner of the intersection. REMC employees at the scene also assisted with the aftermath of the crash.
Lyon was transported from the scene to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted by Plymouth Fire, the Indiana State Police, and Reichert's Towing.
