Some major economic news for Knox County (Ind.) this week.
Amazon has announced plans to locate a new delivery station near Vincennes. Company officials say the new 104,000 square foot building will be part of its expansion of Indiana facilities.
Delivery stations handle the final stages of package delivery by receiving shipments from other nearby stations, loading them into delivery vehicles, and sending them out to customers. The new addition is expected to bring between 170 and 200 jobs and also driver delivery employment opportunities.
Amazon has purchased about 30 acres of land in the Knox County Industrial Park on U.S. 41 south of Vincennes. Construction is anticipated to start in a few weeks. It is estimated that if all goes well, the delivery station could be completed and ready for operation by the end of 2026.
