An 18-year-old Akron man faces multiple charges following two separate incidents Sunday evening in Plymouth.
At 7:35 p.m., the Plymouth Police Department responded to a vehicle that slid off the roadway at U.S. 30 and Oak Drive. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol.
Following further investigation, Trake D Gibson, 18, of Akron, was transported to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated-endangerment, and illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
Ten minutes later, at 7:45 p.m., the Plymouth Police Department was dispatched to the Walmart at 2505 N. Oak Drive for a harassment complaint.
Two female Walmart employees reported that a male customer had inappropriately grabbed them while they were working in different areas of the store. Both employees identified the suspect and provided matching clothing descriptions. Store surveillance footage confirmed the suspect's identity as Gibson, the same individual from the earlier slide off.
Gibson was charged with two additional counts of felony sexual battery. He is being held on a $1,500 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
